Hinksey 8    Kidlington OB  2

Saturday, 08 May 2010

8-2.

Kidlington OB  3    Hinksey  1

Tuesday, 04 May 2010

Luke Bremner opended the scoring for Hinksey from the spot after Craig Bloomfield was brought down in the area, a hat trick for Daniel Jones (one did take a slight deflection on the way in) rewarded Old Boys with 3 points from a game that was fast and contested strongly by both sides, Luke Bremner did have another opportunity to score from the spot but sent the ball over the bar.

After playing 120 minutes of football in the Presidents Cup Final on the Bank Holiday monday Hinksey were expected to play a league match the following day against Kidlinton Old Boys. Despite the tired legs Hinksey started brightly and started with an assault on Kidlintons goal. David Jennings was the first with an attempt at goal with Kidlingtons keeper saving it easily. Jennings again was on hand with an effort from just outside the box which again was saved only for the ball to fall to Craig Bloomfield whose resulting shot was cleared off the line with the clearance only getting as far as Jennings it looked as though he would punish them but his shot flew just wide. With Hinksey going all out on the Old Boys goal gaps were appearing at the back and one counter attack saw Chris Fujack through on goal in a one on one situation. Martyn Clark, Hinkseys keeper allowed him to enter into the box before he came out to shut down the angle and this decision proved the right one as he saved Fujacks shot. With this scare behind them Hinksey continued to pepper Kidlingtons goal and Jennings, with a long range shot, saw another of his efforts saved this time the keeper tipping the ball onto the crossbar. Another quick counter attack from Kidlington had Daniel Jones tearing into Hinkseys box and just as he was about to shoot Craig Hanlon made a great crunching tackle to win the ball and passed the ball out to safety. Centre back Toby Webster forced Kidlingtons keeper into making a spectacular bottom corner save from a 40 yard freekick. Hinksey were dominating the possession and with a great bit of link up play through the whole team Matino Ventriglia found enough space on the edge of the box to fire off a shot which just went wide. Ventriglia and Kieran Davis were causing all sorts of problems on their wings and a Ventriglia cross cut back to the edge of the area came to Jennings who was disappointed to see his volley go inches wide. Another Venriglia cross landed at Wayne Desmonds feet and his shot beat the keeper only to be cleared off the line by a defender. Hinkseys domination continued and Jennings had anothe r shot saved as he rifled it in from the edge of the box only for the ball to go straight into the keepers hands. Callum Conlon made an awesome tackle on Kidlingtons Daniel Burrows sending Burrows flying in the air and then played the ball down the line to Davis. Davis' Ronaldinho like skills totally baffled the two Kidlington players and  he cut the ball back to the edge of the area to Bloomfield with Bloomfield just about to shoot he was bought down in the area, winning a penalty. Luke Bremner stepped up to take it and sent the keeper the wrong way. Making it 1-0 to Hinksey. QWith Half time approaching Christian Thomas' pace found him through on goal only for Clarke to save his shot.

The second half started exactly the same with Hinksey in control. AVentriglia corner was crossed in deep to Hanlon who headed the ball back into Desmond who volleyed the ball just over. Thomas' pace was proving a good outlet for Kidlingtons  clearances and on another forray forward his pace found him haring down the wing breaking into the box and cutting the ball back for Jones who just slotted the ball home, making the score level. Hinksey carried on attacking their hosts and another corner found Bremner on the six yards box but his header could only rattle the cross bar. Davis saw a shot from the edge of the area go just wide. With Hinksey continuing their attack on goal they were unlucky to see Conlon dismissed as he accidentally bought down Jones as he was through on goal. With Hinksey now down to ten men Kidlington had more of a chance and one shot saw Clarke beaten but fortunately, for Hinksey, Hanlon was on hand to clear off the line. The Old Boys were starting to get a bit of momentum and their attacks were more regular with Jones beating Clarke on the edge of the area all he had to do was roll the ball into the goal but instead he hit the post and the ball bounced back into into the safety of Clarkes hands. Kidlington now had a spell of domination and made good use of it when Jones had a shot from the edge of the box deflect in off Thomas. This woke Hinksey up and despite being a man down they regained control of the possession and began to again go at Kidlington. Webster floated a cross in and Bremner rose to meet it but couldn't nod the ball down and the ball went over the bar. A ball over the top found Fujack through on goal and with only the keeper to beat he scooped the ball high and wide of the goal. The goal kick found Bremner who skipped his way throught the middle of the pitch and into the box as he weaved his way through the Kidlington defence he was bought down and awarded a penalty. He stepped up to take it and skied it. With the game coming to an end Hinksey pushed players forward to try to grab an equaliser which left them vulnerable at the back. Anothe rbreak forward saw Jones again using his blistering pace it seemed like he was fouled but he stayed on his feet entered the box and unselfishly again cut the ball back to Thomas who smahed the ball into the back of the net making it 3-1. Hinksey tried their best but with tired legs couldn't get back into the game and the scoreline remained 3-1.

Tuesday, 20 April 2010

Broughton + North Newington started this game with a clear intention of 3 points and Old Boys had a similar agenda, Gareth Davies put BNN one up after a short time Old boys pulled it back to 1-1 with a good effort from Daniel Jones, Karl Tucker scored for BNN and Kristian Thomas replied for Old Boys, Chris Tilcock again put BNN in front and Tony Skinner leveled for Old Boys after a well placed throw in from Danny Burrows in the dying minutes, a well tough game for both sides that played good passing football.

Kidlington OB  3    Oakley  0

Saturday, 17 April 2010

On a red hot saturday afternoon, Old Boys and Oakley met again for the 2nd time in 3 days. After a 4-1 win for Old Boys last Thursday night Old Boys started the brighter and after 10 minutes Jimmy Williams superbley headed home a pin-point cross delivered from Kristian Thomas, with Old Boys continuing to push it only took another 5 minutes for Kristian Thomas to head home after a well delivered corner worked by Danny Burrows and Andy Wiffen. Oakley started to push Old Boys back but the Kidlington defence stood firm and it was on 35 minutes that Jimmy Williams got his second when he beat the offside trap to take his tally to 4 in 4 games.

A lot of water was taken on at half time and both teams started to look for goals, Oakley pushed and pushed but found Old Boys center backs Darren King and Ryan Randell in rock solid form. A long kick down the field from a now well tanned goal keeper Wayne Foster sent sub Chris Fujak through one-on-one against the Oakley keeper, but Fozzie had to much time on the ball and in the end embaressingly passed it back to the Oakleys keeper Andy Durndell. After that the heat started to get to both teams and the game started to die down until the 91st minute when a great cross in again from Andy Wiffen landed to Daniel Jones whos miscontrol led to an overhead kick attempt that wrong footed the Oakley keeper but was well cleared off the line by an Oakley defender.

Full time Old Boys 3 (Jimmy Williams 2 & Kristian Thomas) Oakley 0.

Kidlington OB  4    Watlington  2

Saturday, 10 April 2010

Old Boys started quickly attacking straight from the off with a run by centre forward Chris Fujak which broke down to nothing, Old Boys kept the heat up for the 1st half and grabbed a goal when a long throw from Danny Burrows was headed backwards by Chris Fujak and found the back of the net, this raised Old Boys further, Danny Burrows picked up the ball just inside the Watlington half and carried it all the way to their box and slotted it coolly away for Old Boys second. Old Boys were doing well keeping the ball between their back four and midfield, Christian Thomas laid a ball off square to Danny Burrows who slipped it through to the middle of the park where Chris Fujak beat all the Watlington defence and smashed the ball into the back of the net for Old Boys third. Just before half time Old Boys went off the gas a bit and John Cox grabbed a goal for Watlington just before half time from a long throw.
Old Boys started the second half off the boil and Watlington got the ball into Old Boys 6yd box and the Referee adjudged that a foul had been committed and up stepped Watlington keeper Luke Hutt   to despatch the ball from the spot into the back of the net. Old Boys made a substitution and Daniel Jones went on, Old Boys got the next break with James Williams slotting the ball down the line for Danny Burrows to pick the cross and for Daniel Jones to slot home, Old Boys fourth.
Many more chances fell for Old Boys, with shots from Darren Sawala, Danny Burrows and Kristian Thomas, but Old Boys could not find the back of the net again.
This was a very spirited and well played game between the two teams.

Kidlington OB  1    Slade Farm  1

Saturday, 03 April 2010

On a very heavy pitch with imminent rain Slade were quickly on the attack, Old Boys seemed a bit lethargic and on the back foot, Owen Souter opened the scoring for Slade Farm and James Williams equalised for Old Boys.
The second half was a half full of missed chances by both teams.

Yarnton  1    Kidlington OB  1

Saturday, 13 March 2010

This local derby match ended 1-1 each; it was Kidlington Old Boys who took the lead with only 35 seconds on the clock. Kristian Thomas finishing off a fine move.

Saturday, 06 March 2010

With end to end play it was Kidlington who scored with a penalty from Daniel Burrows to put them 2-1 up only for Jack Merrill to equalize again for Garsington to share the points.

Kidlington OB  2    Eynsham Reserves  1

Saturday, 06 February 2010

The 1st 14.30 KO of the season and KOBFC played some very creative football against a Eynsham side that defended and created well themselves, Kristian Thomas opened the scoring for Old Boys with Daniel Jones getting the second and he would have had a brace but was given offside after a good individual effort on goal.

Adam Wooford pulled 1 back for Eynsham and all credit to them they never stop trying until the final whistle, Old Boys took the points 2-1, The man in the middle did an excellent job allowing a good flowing game with 2 young competitive teams.

Middleton Cheney  1    Kidlington OB  4

Saturday, 23 January 2010

Cheney showed the effects of the six-week layoff with a sluggish performance against Kidlington, after starting the game as the stronger team.

The home team nearly took the lead in the first minute when Stuart White broke through but saw his shot flash past the post with the keeper beaten. They took the lead after 15 minutes when Chris Heritage tapped home a cross from White in to an empty net, but failed to capitalize on this advantage and watched as Kidlington fought their way back in to the game and scored three goals before half time and a further goal mid-way through the second half to clinch the points easily. The Kidlington goalscorers were Dave Smith, Andy Wiffen, Kristian Thomas and Daniel Jones.

Mansfield Rd  2    Kidlington OB  1

Saturday, 12 December 2009

It was a cool, crisp, winter's day and just like the winter sun this game took a long time to warm up, with all 3 goals coming in the final half-hour. The first half was a tense affair as the tackles flew in and both sides struggled to put a foot on the ball in muddy conditions under the slanting winter sunlight. Manny Road may have taken the lead when Luis McGillycuddy was put clean through but he was felled on the edge of the box before could pull the trigger. The resultant free kick came straight from the training ground and went straight into the bin after a disastrous mix up.

The second half was more lively and some clouds had intervened to block the irritating sun-light. Mansfield took the lead from a set-piece when Dan O' Connor leapt like a salmon to head home from a drilled Dan Trinder corner on around the hour mark. Then Luis McGillycuddy scored a wonderful solo goal with 15 minutes to go, side-stepping two opponents as he cut in from the left before drilling home a low and hard shot into the keeper's bottom left. The game seemed finished as a contest but came back to life with a nervous final 5 minutes after a Kidlington midfielder capitalized on some poor defending to blast the ball past keeper Robinson from 10 yards. Kidlington nearly grabbed a draw in the final moments when a calamitous clearance by Mansfield sliced into the path of a gambling striker, who's well drilled shot was expertly saved by Robinson to deny a plucky Kidlington. Final score, Mansfield Road 2 v Kildington OB 1.

Broughton & NN  1    Kidlington OB  0

Saturday, 07 November 2009

This was a good entertaining match, Broughton doing a lot of the attacking in the first half, missing a few half chance’s in the process. They should have had a clear cut penalty when Karl Tucker was fouled in the box, but it was missed by referee. Kidlington had one half chance that was blazed high and wide by striker Daniel Wright.

Broughton came out in early in the second half looking for a goal and it come after a Danny Hastie’s corner was headed down by Michael Bolton, this was cleared to the edge of the box to Chris Tillcock who hammered home an unstoppable drive into the top corner. The rest of the chances fell to broughton with player manager Jamie Rimmer heading over from a corner, Steve Norman scoring with a great finish only to be flagged off side. The final score 1-0 to Broughton.

Kidlington OB  2    Garsington Reserves  0

Saturday, 31 October 2009

Saturday was a great day for a game of footy after the early morning rain, Old Boys went one up after Dave Smyth scored a well deserved quality goal against a Garsington team that were defending well, Ben Quainton should have had his name on the score sheet but was adjudged to be off side when he made great use of an opportunity to bury the ball in the roof of the net, Darren King made it Old Boys 2-0 after some good team work.To Garsington credit they battled well and did not give up, Mat Cashman did a good job between the sticks to keep the score line to 2-0

Kidlington OB  0    Mansfield Rd  2

Saturday, 10 October 2009

1st half was a fairly matched contest with Old Boys having much of the play inside the opponenets half, neither side created much and both teams cancelled each other out. 1/2 time score 0-0

2nd half started with Mansfield Road passing the ball around well and the ball finally found itself in the back of Old Boys net after a scrappy goaline scufel which James Cockfield claimed. Old Boys fought back well and played good passing football with a number of shots which were held by keeper Dave Robinson, Mansfield Road extended their lead with a good strike from Luis McGillcuddy and the full time score ended 0-2 despite some good work by Old Boys who never gave up.

Kidlington OB  5    North Oxford  1

Saturday, 03 October 2009

The home of football at Exeter Close Kidlington and a pitch that would be fit for a cup final complete with perfectly white new goal posts hosted North Oxford in the 2nd home game of the season for Old Boys.

A fairly matched 1st half saw Old Boys with most of the play and some good defending from North Oxford but was finally broken courtesy of Kristian Thomas and the 1/2 time whistle went with Old Boys 1-0 up.
North Oxford started the 2nd half well fired up and soon made it 1-1 with an easy goal from Liam Burgess catching Old Boys on the back foot, there was much end to end stuff with both teams defending well but creating little, Darren Sawala broke this with a fine strike that put Old Boys 2-1 up and before the final whistle Kristian Thomas hit twice more for his hat trick with Daniel Jones getting the 5th to make it 5-1. A good game of footy with Referee Jamie Fisk doing a great job allowing the game to flow.

Charlton  1    Kidlington OB  1

Saturday, 26 September 2009

This was a fair result as points were shared in a well battled game. Charlton went 1 - 0 up after just 5 minutes when Matty Hilsdon scored a long range effort. It was an even first half, with both teams creating good chances. Charlton went into the break with the lead intact.
The second half kicked off and it was much the same from both teams as chances came and went, either team could have scored. Kidlington stepped up a gear and dispite efforts from Charlton Utd keeper Danny Mann - including a great double save, Kidlington equalised through a well taken goal by Kristian Thomas. Charlton scored a goal 10 minutes before the end, but it was judged to be off-side. The game was well refereed and played in good spirit by both teams.

Kidlington OB  2    Middleton Cheney  4

Saturday, 19 September 2009

KOBFC and Cheney were well matched in the 1st half and the 1/2 time whistle went with the score @ 1-1.
The 2nd half started with Old Boys giving away an easy goal and Cheney built on this with Old Boys trying hard to pull back and eventually equalised with the score at 2-2 it was easy to think that this would be the result after 90 minutes but with Cheney working hard they produced another 2 goals with the final score being KOBFC 2 Middleton Cheney 4, Darren King and Kristian Thomas scoring for Old Boys, a brace from Steve Ciballi and individual goals from Neil Wright and Seb Salt gave Cheney 3 points.

Eynsham Reserves  0    Kidlington OB  2

Saturday, 12 September 2009

A beautiful Saturday afternoon welcomed Kidlington to Eynsham Playing fields. With only 4 starters from the previous week Eynsham were looking to make it difficult for Kidlington, this was not to be as in the first half two mistakes cost Eynsham two goals scored by the lively Kristian Thomas. After a half time team talk relaxing in the afternoon sunshine Eynsham came out with more belief in the second half and enjoyed most of the ball, albeit not carrying enough of a goal threat to seriously change things around. The game ended 0-2 to Kidlington. Well done both teams on a hot afternoon.
